There's nothing like that sad truth to ruin your life...well, I won't let it, cause IIIII found this graffiti draped caftan on eBay & it's making me feel like a 5 year old in a petting zoo! I mean c'mon, EVERYBODY needs at least ONE sheer black dress with colorful squiggly lines in their closet, right?? I guess not. Shoe connoisseur, shoe guru, shoe fanatic, whatever you call it: I LOVE SHOES, & you probably all know that by now. SO, as I was doing my daily search for new things to cover my feet, all three of these magnificent beauties caught my eye. Behold: a new shoe generation! Only ONE month shy of the entrance to SPRING!!! Which means, (for me at least), it's time to pull out all of my bright OCC eyeshadows & insanely pigmented Lip Tars, so we can all have a blast

How can you incorporate bright shadows into your look? Good question.

Your lids don't have to look like the girls in the pictures, pshh-mine sure won't. But it gives you an inspiring idea of what can be done!! I'll be sporting my fave: the neon cat eye. You can try streaks of color, like adding a cobalt blue to your waterline to amp up a neutral daytime look, or even pink + brown to accentuate your hazel eyes at night. H&M will be opening TWO locations in Houston, Texas. The Spring will greet us with the Grand Opening of the first location in Baybrook Mall, followed by the Willowbrook Mall later on in the year. Will You Be My Valentine?

The only thing better than receiving a mysterious note on your desk telling you to go to locker #10, & finding a heart-shaped box of chocolates complete with a love letter and a plush teddy-bear is....well, there's not much else better than that! BUTTTTT, it is pretty enjoyable sitting back and watching how the other girls in school coordinate their makeup, nails, & clothes to match this slightly 'dreadful-if-you're-single' holiday. In middle school I was pretty festive on Valentines Day. I came to school with red nails, pink lips, candy-cane striped tights, & baggies full of candy for my classmates :). This time around though, I think I'll tone things down & delete the striped tights..instead, I'm gonna' be flaunting this adorable heart-tipped manicure all around the city! ASOS Laser-Cut Goodies :)

Packages from stores I ordered from a long time ago are finally starting to trickle in one by one. I bought from mainly Japanese stores so I expected them to be about 20 days away. I did make a few US purchases, though--one being this ASOS laser-cut clutch. I had NO idea it would be this LARGE, it's almost as big as the shoulder purse I carry around already! Oh well, It'll be fun to jazz up a sluggish outfit or spice up a slammin' one. Think I'm overboard with this whole neon thing?? NAAAAAAAHHHH. No worries, loves--I won't be walking around like a giant highlighter, but pieces of me will definitely be highlighted with my new purchases. Now the only package I'm waiting on is one from Switzerland, with some overly patterned, collared button-ups. :)

Quirky, NEON, & Cheap: A Budgeted, Teenaged Girls Best Friend

Pretty much everyday has been somewhat of a shopping adventure since I've been here. Whether I walk out of the store with something or not, I've been scoping out the areas I wan't to revisit, & jotting down the ones I wasn't feeling so much. On my way to my new favorite vintage store (I'll mention later), I stopped at this one hard-to-ignore boutique. Literally, the place pretty much had flashing neon lights saying, "COME IN HERE, LITTLE GIRL. WE'RE BETTER THAN WHERE YOU'RE HEADED"...well, at least that's what I saw. Anywho, I made my rounds, picked up a few sheer collared button-downs, & started the "oohing + ahhing' process at the jewelry department. A high concentration of blinged-out mustaches & silver skulls made up most of the ring counter, but I dug up some funky statement pieces that I think I'll end up falling in love with:

So who am I to say 'stay away'?! I was way too hyped about my new idea, & practically tried to beat myself to the punch--but you guys + dolls get the overall jist of what this do' is SUPPOSED to look like...right? Oh whatever, it looks cuter in person, ahaha!

If you're looking to switch up your regular, repetitive, plain ol mani, glitter & designs are JUST the way to do it. I didn't use any stencils for this do', I just eyeballed what I thought the half moon should look like. I think I'll stick to this mani for a lil bit, maybe try some different glitters & finishes..

Snakeskin Nail D.I.Y

The nail strips I am using are semi-sheer, so to get the full 'python' effect, I double-coated my nails in OPI's "UH-OH, ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW". The color won't necessarily show through the strips, but using a dark base amps up the presence of the design.

I'm using Sally Hansen Salon Effects in 450 'Brattlesnake'

Choose the strip that fits your nail the best, & follow the directions to properly peel them off.

Once peeled, apply the sticker to your nail, smooth the edges & follow directions to learn how to properly file off the excess strip!

& there you have it, your own snakeskin nail design in under 10 minutes! You can also try different bases for a different intensity.

I Have A New BFF Named 'Sofia'

Thank GOD the yummy scent of Benefit Cosmetic's "Carmella" lured me into Sephora a few months ago. I'm a complete sucker for sugary scents, but adding the smell of warm, gooey caramel makes everything 1,000,000,000 times better! No idea why I didn't just buy the fragrance right then & there, but I went back to ULTA today, fingers crossed & all, hoping it wasn't discontinued. Lucky me, it was right up front on the Benefit counter the second I walked in...well, not really lucky me, cause when I went to spritz it, I was soooooo disappointed. It smelled like a tart, flowery caramel...not the sweet, supple perfume I obsessed over in NY :(. Ah, I was pissed! Maybe it just smelled so good the first time cause my nose was so used to smelling the filthiness of Times Square, street-meat air. Anywho, knowing I needed a new fragrance, I just picked up "Something About Sofia", (still slightly upset but not enough to stop me from moving on). Long story short, 'Sofia' is pure hot stuff. YES, her packaging is OOZING with frilly, girly goodness, but what's inside is muuuuuch more enchanting: mango, jasmine with notes of vanilla bean encapsulated in one pretty seductive bottle. I've never tried any of their lacquers, but I'm SOOO looking forward to beginning my Spring with girly, cantaloupey shades, shimmery greys, & multi-toned purples! I've been needing some new nail lacquer inspiration...sadly, I had to leave at least 140/152 of my polishes in another state, so I need a boost to get back on my nail spree! I may have complained about Chanel's nail polish bottle structure in the past (you have to take the square cap off to open the 'real' top...kind of annoying), but lemme tell you, the formula is soooo incred., the thickness is perfect, the opacity is on point, & the finish is gorgeous. I'm really feelin' this punchy pastel mani, there's really no need for any designs.

I see tons of guys & dolls rocking JC's Lita's, so with most things that go mainstream, I was on to my next shoe-craze.....or so I thought. Juuuuust when I felt my 'Lita' fixation had seized, my friend David over at XTC convinced me to buy 1 of their 6 pairs left of JC's new "Cleata Nude" platforms. Well, he didn't have to do much convincing, I'd never seen this version before & admittedly suffer from the 'shiny-ball' syndrome... They have the exact same build as every other Lita JC has made (I tried walking in one with the Lita I was already wearing there), the only difference is the material of the sides: VINYL, wooo hooooo!!!!!!!!! They're clear, which means they'll go splendifurously with my new socks.......... that I'll have to have mailed to me cause I forgot to pack them for the move...egh, buzzkill much?

OCC's Matte Topcoat

Ever since I spotted YSL's tuxedo manicure matte nails have been #1 on my lacquer list. Sure, shiny fingers will forever be tasteful, but this untraditional spin on things is most definitely noteworthy. I will admit, I do feel a bit ridiculous posting this now, seeing as I've had this lacquer for a really long time now..but meet: OCC "Flatline".

I slathered "Flatline" on top of my recent manicure, expecting a glossy finish, only to find a surprising satin sheen. I tried to rant & rave about it to my big brother but all I could get out was "O....M....Ahhhh....this is so....ahh...OMG....EHHH!!". I now don't have to go hunt down a ton of matte nail polishes in different shades! I can steal the shine of ANY manicure with this topcoat. After many days of me asking my mother to hold my lippies & brushes in her purse, followed up by her nagging me to get my own, I've finally utilized the powers of a MAKEUP BAG. I don't know why I refused to carry one in the first place, they're so small & come in handy like NOOO other. I no longer lose my chapsticks, mascara's, or blush brushes at the grotesque bottom of my purse, yaaay! Over the past few days, I've been applying my makeup eaarrrrly in the AM, & surviving all day without a touch up. Well, I probably shouldn't call it survival, cause when I would get home, my concealer would be all muddy, & my eyeliner looks like crap. I'd been meaning to try these new Q-Tips by Beauty Fixation during the day for easy touch up, & I'm sooo glad I finally got to it!

They come with 24 pre-filled applicators

Basically, you snap the tip (DON'T BREAK IT), & the makeup removing solution flows to the bottom allowing you to clean up any makeup-mishaps with one swipe!

The solution can be a bit oily, like baby oil, so I follow it up with some Witch Hazel cloths & eye cream, theennnnn I reapply my concealer. Then Voila, you look JUST as fab as you did in the morning!

Whoever first invented Hello Kitty has got to be the Einstein of branding. Almost every little girl I know owns at least one thing with the little cat on it & let's not even get started on China...you can't walk very far without seeing those cute little whiskers & signature red bow! Hello Kitty has been taken pretty far, & on December 23rd, Beijing brought the kitty to new extremes, opening up China's FIRST ever Hello Kitty RESTAURANT. Yes, I said it, restaurant, as in-a place where everything on the menu depicts some sort of version of the adorable cat herself. Why can't they open one of these where I am?! Guess I'll have to stop by next time I drop in on Beijing! What a lucky cat.

I've always thought true style was fearless, authentic, & limitless, so when I see collections like Gerlan Jeans I feel like I've stepped into the Narnia of fashion (My DREAM WORLD). I've been racking up lines to stock up on before I do my annual bulk shopping spree, & I (without a shadow of a doubt) put Gerlan at the top! Not a common collaboration, but both sides definitely hold their own in their respected communities. Beats by Dre came onto the scene with a strong agenda that included raising the bar for quality headphones by allowing the music you listen to-to sound exactly the way the artist wanted you to hear it. Oscar de la Renta has had his own dominating force in the fashion industry since the 60's......that's a lot of power in one earmuff, dontcha' think? $695 is definitely enough to turn somebody away from a set of earmuff/headphones, but such a rare collaboration is worth copping & stowing away in my prized-possession collection trunk...(not that I even have one of those, but if I did, they'd go in their along with my 9 1/2 inch Spice Girl platforms :P)

Not quite sure what sartorially seduces me more, the hole-y collar, or the faint pink button up. I love how hardly saturated the cover is; nothing too bright, nothing too faded. Feeding the viewers a mod, youthful feeling, I see.

Let's talk BEAUTY:

Adolescence played a meaningful role on this cover, using a scarce amount of mascara, & and an illustrious, 40s-esque, matte red pout. Tousled waves & matching nail polish made for a whimsically sophisticated February 2012 beginning. Five Stars :)

One of my close friends Izzy showed me these glam-grunge, crocodile print Doc Martens on eBay. Gash, what a beauty they are....too bad they're like a size 10US. Sorry, loves I guess that means they're just for show to some of us.
This color-blocked bomber by RockStreetVintage is one of my favorite outerwear pieces I've spotted in a while. Might be a lil' too vibrant to some, but my closet's always been in somewhat of an anti-minimalist mood.

I spotted this look earlier today & was a bit perplexed as to if it was an accident, or this person wanted their fingertips to look like their acrylics were in desperate need of a refill. I saw this one girl fill in hers with rhinestones & shockingly, it was not half bad! Anyway, that's not the point. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this spacious mani, yet.....I do like the sort-of inverted half moon design, however, I would've filled the emptiness in with a funky color. We're all different, eh?

Somebody tell me New Years Eve isn't really over yet....or should I just pinch my own self? Gash, where was this Givenchy makeup when I was rummaging for the perfect look to flaunt that night?! Egh, I guess the important thing now is that Gisele Bundchen is here, with this gorgeously simple sequined-eye for us to drool over. I love this look cause' it shows that the littlest, most random touch can bring the party to your look; doesn't have to take much.

I'm either late at getting these resolution posts up, or suuuper early.......... nahhh, I think according to the blogosphere, I'm late. These New Years Resolutions to me, are flexible....they're like one big 'I will sorta, kinda, maybe try really, really hard to keep this promise to myself' type thing. If I screw up on that promise, I can always make a new one later on in the year, right-you know, like re-start? I mean, making good on promises to yourself, for your OWN betterment is hard enough already, but keeping them for a whole YEAR?! Now that's pressure...I'd rather just start a new batch of resolutions each month, you know, so I feel like I'm really getting somewhere, making faster progress. Wow, that was too long of a paragraph over something that had absolutely no trace of relevance to what this blog post is actually about... bow ties + creepers. For my accessory NYR, I'm going on a pointy creeper platform & bow tie-spree, to go with my 'ugly bow ties + pretty button-ups' vibe I've been rockin' lately.

Mixing goofy, cartoon prints with the somewhat-seriousness of a button up (or button down, whatever you call it), is my formula for this Springs perfect sartorial contradistinction.

Hooray, the cartoon trend has gotten loose + is on the run! Oh, how I'd swoon & fawn over a wardrobe full of these ridiculous printed garments to call my own (I'm a bit of an undercover comic con junkie, well...not so 'undercover' anymore). Anyway, the illustrated clothing craze head started with Prada’s potassium fix & stayed strong with Riccardo Tisci’s slightly frightening, vicious Rottweilers. The trend has now trickled down to more affordable designers like Jeremy Scott & the online website ASOS. If it were still 2010, I would've absolutely gagged at the thought of somebody taping the inside of a comic book to their skirt, but the showiness of these garments is just too faboosh to ignore.

A 60s Obsession

At this point it's perfectly acceptable to label my excessive posts, tweets, + Facebook statuses 'A 60s Obsession'. I haven't got the slightest bit of a clue where all of this even stemmed from, one day I just woke up craving 'so-hideous-they're-cute' paisley button downs, & peter-pan collard toppers.....not the least bit strange. The 60's seemed to be such an enjoyable era (to some...)--with rock-n-roll at its finest (& most boisterous), the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, etc. captivated the free spirited. I've been indulging in 60's movies like Pirate Radio, Funny Girl, & Breakfast At Tiffany's- studying (+ drooling) at the wardrobe very closely. With Spring up next, this addiction couldn't have come at a more suitable time :). Happy Holidays everyone!

If you're anything like me, you have no choice but to slouch on the couch + browse the Internet due to the glutenous amount of food you've consumed this Christmas. If you're doing nothing of the sort, well then I just feel like a lazy, hopeless blob for telling you that. Chanel Nail Colour in 539 'June'

Chanel released their Spring/Summer 2012 Nail Lacquers recently, titled "April", "May", & "June". I couldn't be happier that I was given "June", the lacquer suits the 60's attitude I've acquired lately. Contrary to what the photo's depict, the color is more Apricot than the obnoxious tangerine you see. I've been cheating on Winter by wearing sooo many Spring/Summer colors on my nails, it's a shame. Hopefully this dreadfully cold season won't last much longer, cause my heart's with the Spring + my patience is running thin! Well, enough of my rambling...have a look at this beauuuutiful shade of Spring colour. :)

Oh Prada, how you align ever so exquisitely with my recent fascination of the past (didn't want to use the word nostalgia.....sounds like barf). Seems we've both got a taste for floral, vintage-inspired trenches & flame heels for the S/S; alas, somebody gets me. Must we even cover what I crave for in their 2012 Spring/Summer Collection? The green clutch, the body suit, the model's bodies.......anything in these pictures will do, it's all so fascinating. Look at the girl to the left in the photo below: Does that NOT look like a designer letterman jacket? Oh & how have I even LIVED without that boxy, suitcase-esque, lemon purse?! Lately I've been on this very strange sunglass organizing spree; all of my frames are categorized according to their appropriate seasons. Yeah, yeah sunglasses probably weren't made with seasons in mind, but I like to lay them out that way, makes me feel like I'm planning out my style for the next year. Lame & ridic, I'm aware. Any who, I'm currently coveting these glittery, ravishing beauties from Miu Miu's Fall 2011 collection. Although I'm STILL not completely in the Christmas spirit-- frosty, tinted things seem to put me in somewhat of a holiday mood (Dear Mother Nature: Some SNOW might do the trick, *cough cough*). My my, I must admit, I'm slightly taken aback at how far the ubiquitous "Ugly Christmas Sweater" has come! Did anybody else see how it went from being a dreaded holiday staple piece, to a sort of 'celebrated uniqueness'. Now onto the picture: Everything about this quirky, conversation-starting, polka dotted present-sweater is on trend, especially paired with a frilly while lace mini-skirt. There isn't much "Christmas" going on in the middle sweater beside the color, but who could resist adorable kittens to put you in a cheery spirit? So she sought out the help of the Internet, & found out how to create natural-looking doll hair. The group in Georgia plans to give out 40 of what look like Austin Powers "Goldmember" barbies. Explained member Jennifer Henderson to the Ledger-Enquirer: “We wanted to show the girls that basically, it’s okay the way God made you.”

China Glaze + Hunger Games....back on?

It's no surprise China Glaze got the green-light to manufacture a new Hunger Games inspired nail lacquer collection, the real surprise came when I finally saw the colors! In case you were left in the dark about the dramatic saga circling the blogosphere (and I'm not talking about the book): In a nutshell....pictures of the collection were 'leaked' and everyone went bizzurk. Then we learned of a law suit between China Glaze and Lionsgate Films. Next thing we know, the nail lacquer line was dead. Well, now the collabo is back on! The line will launch on March 1, (three weeks before the film’s opening). The names have changed from clever titles like, "Catnip" (Gale's pet name for Katniss), to so-boring-they're-almost-irrelevant names like "Mahogany Magic". Although the titles prior to the lawsuit mumbo-jumbo were pretty much ingenious....I can't complain. At least we get the pretty colors...right?

Holiday Stocking Stuffer Idea/Review

Finally getting around to reviewing my favorite lipsticks (although you couldn't tell because they look brand new.....I have dupes).

Moving on:

Make Up Forever's naming system is kind of wack, they label their cosmetics with numbers, so the tangerine orange is #40, & the fuchsia is #36. So despite the crummy numerically-described colours, I absolutely adore these lippies. While not only being extremely true to their colors, they're smooth, not too creamy, abnormally pigmented, & MATTE (no shimmer). Only cons I have to put out there are that they do stain....I'm usually a fan of lingering lippies up until I seriously need to take them off. I used two different makeup removers til' I got fed up & brought out the baby oil.

This is not to stray anybody away from this product.

In reality, staining will come when you use ANY ultra-pigmented cosmetics, however if you absolutely can't stand it, you should keep that in mind if you're thinking of buying these. You probably won't experience any staining with lighter pigmented lippies.

Holiday Tips: Shiny, Shimmery Stuff That Makes You Look Better

I've been messing with highlighting & accentuating my bone structure for some time so I feel this post is a bit long overdue...Not enough makeup folks pay attention to what I'm going to tell you about, but everyone notices when it's not done. So let's get started with some highlighting tips for your skin!

I don't really think it's worth wearing makeup if you don't at least contour or highlight your skin. It's like baking a cake & skipping the frosting; not complete. Highlighting ties the entire look together, giving your skin a healthy pop of life. Contouring is a whole different story, so I won't go off on that rant...yet.
To highlight the skin, you don't HAVE to use special balms, serums, or compacts, as they can be a bit expensive to some. Instead, all you need is either a shimmery, flesh toned shade of eyeshadow or creme eyeshadow (I've found that works best when trying to achieve a dewy glow).
Now that we've covered what is necessary, there are three key places on your face you should focus on for a beautiful holiday-picture, glow: Cheekbones, nose cartilage, & underneath your eyebrows. You don't want to seem ashy in your photo's, so only apply the highlight to areas where the light is captured on your skin.
Now ladies, grab your makeup brushes & your glittery pigments and go practice getting all dolled up! Don't you wanna be the hautest in your Christmas pictures? :]

Can't seem to get enough of these scrunchy new drop-bags by Margherita! The chain is detachable, making it perfect for daywear or a night out. I can't keep my eyes off of the rich color & unique 3 dimensional shape. Is it just me or do they remind you of those pouches that camel riders carry? I wonder what they would feel like being carried... with such a slim, necklace-like chain, the equilibrium seems like it would be off. Nevertheless, these are haute & going right onto my holiday gift list for the ladies in my family :)

Lace and Button Necklace DIY

Hi Everyone! I'm Natasha and I blog over at Required2BeInspired about fashion and DIY. I am thrilled that Kendall invited me to share one of my DIY projects on her blog. Today I'm going to share instructions on how to make a very easy Lace and Button Necklace!

Originally we had decided that I was going to make a Collar Necklace (you know the ones that look like shirt collars), but since almost everyone seems to be making them already I chose to make one slightly inspired by a collar, but a bit more girly.

Materials and Supplies

- 12" Piece of Ruffled Lace

- Assorted Buttons (I found a bag for $8 and the Dollar Store)

- 10" Gold Chain

- Jump Rings

- Lobster Clasp

- Craft Pliers

Instructions

1. Cut your gold chain to one 4" piece and one 6" piece. Use your pliers and a jump ring to attach one top corner of the lace to one end of your chain. Repeat for the other side. I put the 6" chain on the left and the 4" on the right.

2. Use your pliers and a jump ring to attach the lobster clasp to the end of the 4" long chain.

3. Lay out your buttons on top of your lace however you'd like. Attach the buttons to the lace using jump rings (or you can sew them on...or glue using a strong jewelry glue).

And you're done!!

At only 17 years old, Singaporean Willabelle Ong's style blog (PALE DIVISION) has already gained such a beastly following. Not to mention, she's snagged attention from Teen Vogue, MTV style, NY Fashion Cut, & plenty more stellar platforms! The fact that this style diva is still in HIGH school just goes to show that a true sense of fashion has no age. I'm always inspired by style bloggers that don't let the latest trend dictate what they're going to look like that day. I really only wanted to do one nail... Inspired by a Giraffe & a Canary.

Seems I've gone on some sort of nail-art spree ever since I received a massive shipment of OPI lacquers in the mail. What can I say, new products always spark motivation. They give me hope that I will no longer be forced to use the very last of the out-dated & slowly deteriorating products I've kept stored in my shelves for what seems like eternity. Gross. Anyone else suffer from the 'shiny ball' syndrome? You know, the one where you drop everything you were doing that second to fawn over something new, something better, something....shinier. Isn't that the fun in getting new things?...I think it is. Anyway, today was a fuzzy, blurred day. I couldn't sleep in my bed due to the monstrous pile of polishes chillin' all the way from the foot to my pillow cases...I'll either end up starting collection or doing an enormous giveaway so that they can be somebody else's problem ;). hehe.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics+ Make Up For Ever HAUL!!!!!

You know me, always returning from New York with a fresh batch of goodies. As my obsession worsens, what line could be more fitting to buy from than Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics? hehee....ANYWHO

It would take more than a few days to show you all of what I brought, so I narrowed tonight's 'show + tell' down to my absolute favorite product-picks I'll be writing about + reviewing for the next few weeks! (Trying really hard to wipe this giddy grin off my face...)

After seeing countless reviews of OCC's Lip Tars & hearing chit-chat about how concentrated they are, I had to find out what all the talk was about. They come in 36 crazy saturated shades, so I chose 6 of the most wearable colors for my skin tone. When I can carve out some time in between work, I'll post a review. In the mean time I'll just rant: Literally 1/4th of a drop covers my entire pout (& ya'll know I have plump 'bubblegum' lips, so I was truly amazed). Matte, neon, crease-resistant, & smooth; just the way I like my shadows. I'm very extreme when it comes to my eyes. If I'm not rocking a soft, neutral look, I go right to the opposite: RAVE bright colors. Primer is an absolute must in order to get the most out of all MKFE shadows. MKFE cosmetics can be a bit on the pricey side for some people, but they last a lifetime (a little goes THE longest way) even if you don't use them in moderation.
